Principal's Corner:  It was great to see so many people at BHS on Monday, September 14, for Open House despite the dreary weather we had that day.  Thank you for the great turnout and we hope everyone had ample time to meet their child's teacher and receive answers to any questions they might have had.

The school year is well under way... we are already approaching the end of the 1st 6 weeks.  Friday, October 2nd, is the last day of the 1st 6 weeks and report cards will go out the following week.   It is truly an honor to have the privilege of working with your children every day.  It is a responsibility that the faculty and staff of BHS does not take lightly.  We have great students, parents, faculty, and staff that makes up a wonderful environment for BHS... the Hawk Community is second to none! As always, if there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are going to have a great school year!  Take care - Jason Wells

Please make note of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities at BHS.

Grateful Dads What is a Grateful Dad?
One who puts kids before himself
One who shows up on Fridays even when he's too busy
One who smiles as he meets BHS students as they enter in the morning
even when he has other things on his mind

A Grateful Dad has a huge heart
A strong handshake
A genuine smile

A Grateful Dad is a great example of a man
A man who hopes to touch others
To influence kids in a positive way
And make a difference one greeting and handshake at a time!

Grateful Dads are coming to Birdville High!
Well, they are already here but now they will have tye dyed t-shirts, too.

Grateful Dads is a program where awesome dads of BHS students can come in on a Friday morning between about 7:30-8:30 a.m. wearing their signature t-shirt and greeting the students as they come to school.  Engaging the students in conversation and being someone they look forward to seeing on a Friday morning will make a huge difference in the lives of our students.

If you are interested in being a Grateful Dad, please contact Jay Rhodes
jay.rhodes@oncor.com or Jennifer LePla at jenniferpta@msn.com.

Special thanks to Jay Rhodes and Carlton Franklin for heading up this new amazing group of special people caring about all our students at Birdville High.
